SOI 12th Season Programme Announced

The NCPA will present the Symphony Orchestra of India’s 12th Celebrity Season from February 18 to 26, 2012, featuring the classic duo, Pietro Mascagni’s CavalleriaRusticana and Ruggero Leoncavallo’s I Pagliacci on February 18, 20 & 21 and Carl Orff’s powerful and elemental Carmina Burana on February 25 & 26 at the JamshedBhabha Theatre, NCPA.

The SOI joins with an internationally knownprofessional cast of singers and an acclaimed stage director and conductor – Antonello Allemandi,   also presenting sumptuous sets from Argentina.  The SOI will also perform a scenic cantata – Carl Orff’s powerful and elemental CarminaBurana on February 25 and 26, 2012. More often heard as a choral piece, at one time during the early 1960’s this composition was probably the most performed classical work throughout the entire western world.
