Friends of the SOI
In 2006, when the NCPA started the Symphony Orchestra of India, we found support and encouragement from many Friends. Today the SOI has 231 Friends of The Symphony Orchestra of India, many of whom have been with the Orchestra since its founding in 2006. The SOI owes its success to the consistent encouragement and support of its audiences and its Friends, those who have patronised its concerts and special events, spread the word to their own friends and associates, and offered their generous financial support. As we do not depend on public subsidy, that support — your support — is particularly critical. Ticket income typically covers only about a third of a concert’s total cost. Yet despite this, year-on-year, we’ve managed to expand our ambitions and presented bigger works, thanks to the generous support of our Friends and donors.
We can offer a number of ways for individuals, companies, trusts and foundations to become involved with the Orchestra and support its work. At the most basic level is becoming a Friend of the Symphony Orchestra of India. By becoming a Friend of the SOI, you can help us plan for the future and remain financially secure. As a Friend, you’ll also enable the Orchestra to take on exciting new projects and educational activities that will significantly raise awareness about the SOI and make it into an important cultural resource for the country, not to mention give Indian musicians an opportunity to make a career in the field of Western Classical Music. That is to say, your support will make a difference.
